IMO Cigar Review: Carlos Torano Casa Torano Toro

I had high expectations for the Carlos Torano Casa Torano Toro after looking over the construction, the wrapper was a beautiful light brown, tannish color with very few veins. A wonderful silky smooth texture and a slight cedar scent made me think this third smoke was to be a notable one.

Late evening with cloudy skies, and a cool breeze found me on the patio in my favorite rocker, coffee cup in one hand and my tools of the trade in the other, Colibri lighter and my small punch, to be used on this 6 1/4″ stick with a 50 size ring gauge. Careful attention to the cap with my punch had this stick ready for the flame. The Carlos Torano Casa Torano Toro felt good in my hand and had a nice balance as I turned it slowly waiting for the flame to light this stick. The initial draw was moderate and remained moderate until the end.

The beginning had much promise as I noticed a moderate spicy flavor. The smoke volume was disappointingly low. The smoke was thin and for lack of a better term “fleeting“, very wispy with a light gray, blue color. Midway through the stick I began to notice a trace of earth tone with a peppery bite. The Carlos Torano Casa Torano Toro continued this earth tone until the end.

At $4.49 a stick I was pleased with the flavors it provided but was surprised at the low smoke volume it produced. All three trials of the Carlos Torano Casa Torano Toro had this characteristic low smoke volume which put me off.

I will re-review this cigar in the future in hopes that the smoke volume issue was due to mishandling on my part or from the retail store. Not sure what I may have done to intervene or what event the stick went through on its way to me.

Hadn’t tried these yet, but sorry to hear about the problem. I hope the follow-up smoke goes better.

These don’t have the same volume of smoke that I’ve gotten from other cigars, but they do usually put off a good amount of blue smoke.
